Okay so how many times have you been at your friend house and played with their makeup or been out for a night on a town and for got your lipgloss so you borrow your friend? Theres no harm you think, but there IS.
Sharing makeup can actually be very harmful to you because you use it in the area that is breeding grounds for harmful bacteria, your FACE.
The face is one of the most sensitive and important parts of your body it is always the center of attention and everyone you encounter will look at it. So its pretty understandable to take extra precautions to care for it. Simple thing like using disposable mascara wands, or using a brush to apply lipstick when sharing makeup can make a difference between a healthy face or a face ruined with infections.
The Most important thing you can do to maintain a infection free face when applying makeup to your face with your own products is as simple as cleaning your brushes. Yea cleaning can be time consuming and some brush cleaners can be expensive, but here is an inexpensive and quick makeup brush cleaner recipe you can make yourself at home.
What you will need:
-Baby shampoo (acts as a cleaner)
-70% alcohol (disinfects)
- Warm water(dilutes)
-Small container or bowl
-Paper towel
Recipe:
Fill 50% of the bowl with warm water.
Then add about 25% of the alcohol to the bowl
And the Last 25% baby shampoo
Mix the solution together.
Cleaning the Brushes:
-Twirl the brush around in your homemade brush cleaner for about 30 seconds or until you feel like all the color is out. then place on a paper towel
-Continue until all your brushes has been washed in the solution.
-pour out the dirty mixture (yes it will look gross if you use tons of color) and replace it with clean warm water
-Twirl your brushes in the clean water, (changing water when it become murky)
-Dab off access water on a paper towel.
Drying your Brushes:
NEVER dry your brushes with the bristles facing up, doing this will cause the glue in the metal part of the brush to soften making the bristles shed. And no one wants a shedding brush.
Try tying them together with a rubber band and hanging them off of something with the bristles facing down.
Doing this will save your lots of money as well as the head ache of having something growing out of your eye.
Happy Brush Cleaning!
