5 SkinCare Recipes Using 5 Ingredients in Your Kitchen.

With the increased availability of chemical ridden products designated for the face, its no wonder why the health conscious are turning to natural forms of skin care. They are cost efficient and lack the harsh chemicals, dyes and fillers most of your favorite products have buried in the labels. Common chemicals like Parabens, Sodium laurel sulfate and Phthalates with un-beauty related purposes for things such as "preservatives" and "texture of product" Not only are these chemicals unrelated to the effectiveness of the product, they are hazardous to your skin and your health.

As a women with fairly sensitive skin, I find that using certain cleansers and moisturizers would not only irritate me but would create a whole new issue i had to deal with like drying out my skin or making it too oily. In my quest to find the the best products to use on my skin with out busting my budget or spending hours in the beauty isle, I've turned to the one place with ingredients that are complete safe for your skin and to EAT...

The KITCHEN!

Milk, aloe, sugar, honey and oatmeal the 5 ingredients I used in 5 different recipes and treatments you can use that are natural and non irritating on the skin
Here are their benefits:

Milk- Contains Lactic Acid which helps unclog pores and leaves skin smooth

Aloe- treats acne scars, anti inflammatory & anti bacterial and anti fungal.

Sugar- Helps hypdrate skin, great exfoliant.

Honey- Anti Bacterial, soothes skin, restores damaged skin, and a natural cleanser.

Oatmeal- repairs and heals damaged skin, sunburn relief, and exfoliates.

Lets Get Started...

1. Honey Milk Exfoliator

  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp milk
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp sugar

Mix honey milk and sugar in a small jar or bowl and apply to face. Massage in circle motions focusing on the drier areas of the skin. Wash off with warm water and pat to dry.

2. Steamed Milk Treatment

  • 2 cups Milk

Bring 2 cups of milk to a boil on a stove top. Transfer hot milk (be careful) to a heat safe bowl. Set it on a table in front of you and lean over allowing the milk vapors to hit your face. DO NOT lean too far down into the bowl, the steam can burn you if your too close! Sit like this for about 10 minutes or until your milk stops steaming.

3. Pore strips

  •  1 tbsp Milk
  •  2 tsp Honey

Mix milk and honey in a microwaveable bowl or cup for about 30 seconds. Allow it to cool off to room temperature. Use a popsicle stick or a finger to apply a thick coat to areas that are prone to have blackheads (ex: nose, chin or forehead) After the mixture has dried to the touch, peel off slowly and look at all the junk that was in your skin!
*warning* avoid any eyebrow or facial hairs

4. Oatmeal Aloe Mask

  • 1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal
  • 2 tbsp of milk
  • 1 tsp aloe (from an aloe plant)

Mix oatmeal and milk in a microwavable bowl, smash up the aloe and add it to the mixture. Place it in the microwave for about 15 to 30 seconds till it is warm to the touch (Allow to slightly cool off if too hot) Use fingers and slather oatmeal mixture onto face thickly. Keep on skin for as long as you like. Rinse off with warm water.

5. Aloe Toner

  • Square cut from an aloe plant

Rub the slimey side of the aloe square all over you skin, this can be done once in the morning and once in the evening or after any skin treatment. It restores the ph level of skin and acts as a natural moisturizer.

There are some ingredients that you want to stay away from if you are planning to make your own natural skin care products.
Here are some common misused natural ingedients on the skin:

Vinegar- leaves an odor on the skin

Eggwhites- may contain salmonella

Spices- (ex: cinnamon, pepper) can irritate and damage skin

Citrus- can cause blistering of sensitive skin in sunlight.
